Open House is an immersive, multi-sensory installation that explores the emotional architecture of “home” through shared memories. Two participants are invited to upload personal videos responding to the theme of home. These fragments are transformed into a living collage across a room’s walls and floor — one side for each participant, with a blended narrative unfolding in the centre. As the space evolves, memories collide, overlap, and resonate, revealing not just what home looks like, but what it feels like when experienced through someone else’s eyes.
“Emerging Interactions aims to create digital designs that facilitate remote connections mediating the full spectrum of human senses, emotions and interactions”.
Technical AspectThe evolution of this project heavily depended on our TouchDesigner experience. For myself, a previous project “Personal Project” gave me all the tools and knowledge necessary to explore the software as a whole and inform team members as to what is possible. We decided on TouchDesigner as our software of choice due to its versatility. Connecting Ableton, Arduino, sensors and actuators, Kinect and Media pipe for gesture tracking, we were never limited by the software or hardware, only our knowlege and understanding. Many hours on youtube and forums helped us understand the logic and reasoning behind certain operator set-ups which when multiplied can create a whole network of useable, logical systems that work simultaneously to create a wonderful, explorative outcome, Open House.
